Theme of workshop / lecture: A fresh eye on Shakespeare

The Shakespeare workshop will explore some key moments in the tragedy of Macbeth and the comedy of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The aim of the masterclass is to provide a lively discussion about different directorial decisions which seek to illuminate the meaning of the text for actor and audience. Students will be invited to participate in putting extracts from these two plays from ‘the page to the stage’ in a rehearsal style environment. There will also be the opportunity for a Question and Answer session about approaches to Shakespeare performance in the UK.
