– name and surname
– name of the academie from which the applicant comes (field, specialization, year of study)
– contact telephone number
4. People who apply will receive a form to fill out in which we will ask a few questions. They concern the areas to which the workshop will be devoted. Based on the completed and emailed feedback forms, we will select people who will qualify for the group. The form should be completed in English.
5. We will inform participants about qualifying for the group within a few days of applying.
6. Information about transfer details for people who qualify for the group will be provided by e-mail at the next stages of recruitment.

Workshop topic:

In recent years, a creative approach has begun to play a special role in the space of contemporary theater, assuming such aspects of work as: collectivity, ahierarchy, non-violence, democracy, accessibility and equality of work in terms of differences in race, class, origin, identity, religion, and special needs. To meet these trends, we are organizing 4-day workshops at the National Stary Theater in Krakow for students of theater academies majoring in acting, directing and dramaturgy, the aim of which will be to learn creative tools for researching and exploring the above-mentioned areas.

We invited two successful American artists and teachers with experience and knowledge in the above-mentioned field to conduct the workshops – Brant Russell and Samuel Stricklen from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (United States). The course program will focus on feedback and viewpoint methods, as they are particularly useful for collective theater.

Workshop format:

Throughout this four-day workshop, we will hold up Mary Overlie’s Six Viewpoints- Space, Shape, Time, Emotion, Movement and Story, through two lenses.  We will explore the Viewpoints through their intended lens of, helping to create an ensemble, expanding the flexibility of the performer, and creating work on stage. We will also use the Six Viewpoints through a lens in which artists can create work in a non-hierarchal work environment based on listening, respect, understanding and agreements.

 Workshop Leaders:

Brant Russell: Chair, Department of Acting, College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati; Drama Editor, the Cincinnati Review, freelance director & Playwright.  Brant has written, directed, and produced plays all over the US and in the UK.  He is a New York Times Critic’s Pick director and producer, and his plays have been produced in Cincinnati and Chicago.  He has taught classes in acting, directing, and playwriting for universities in the US, UK, France, and India.

Samuel Stricklen: Assistant Professor, Department of Acting, College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati. He holds an MFA in Acting from the University of California San Diego and a BFA in Drama (now known as Acting) from CCM where he was awarded the Dolly Award for sustained excellence.For many years he was an artist of SITI Company, an ensemble-based theater company whose mission was the creation of new work, the training of theater artists and a commitment to crossing boundaries. He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and Actors’ Equity. He has led workshops in both the Viewpoints and Suzuki methods of actor training with SITI Company, in conjunction with Skidmore College, Ohio State University and Spelman College. He has also served as a drama instructor at the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts at Pebblebrook High School and the University of California San Diego.
